You don’t have to use it, but even the simplest password can make a lot of difference should you happen to lose it. The included EncryptStick™ Lite software is easy to use and can simply secure the contents inside your USB flash drive. It all comes down to what you are looking for in a USB flash drive, and make a purchase decision based on that. There are other USB flash drives out there with better read/write speed but they cost more, and does not offer the rugged protection that the JumpDrive Tough offers. I ran the software twice (one on USB 3.0 port and the other on USB 3.1): I was using CrystalDiskMark to check for Lexar’s claim of up to 150MB/s read and 60MB/s write speed and the claim holds true. It also performs well in terms of performance and has an advanced security solution with 256-bit AES encryption to protect the files within through the help of EncryptStick ™ Lite software (included inside the drive). Lexar also gives it a 3-year limited warranty which should cover all your doubts, if you ever have one.ĭurability is not its only forte though. The drive has also been tested in the Lexar Quality Labs with more than 1,200 digital devices so even if you are only going to use it indoor, it’s good to know that the drive should perform as well and as reliable. It’s not just tough in an extreme environment. However, considering that you may carry it with you while you are doing an extreme sport or situated in an extreme weather condition, Lexar JumpDrive Tough does not have to be placed inside a bag or secure compartment. Most USB flash drives these days have an attachment loop so this is not really a feature that we’ve never heard of before. The JumpDrive Tough also has an attachment loop so you can place it on a keychain or a carbiner. You cannot put the cap at the back of the drive, so just be extra careful not to lose it. The cap is snug fitting which requires a bit of a force to jiggle and pull out, but it’s there to keep the USB 3.1 connector dry and safe. The added protection is definitely worth to have. ![]() It’s a bit thicker than those slimmer and tinier USB flash drives that you might have, but you can still slip this into your pocket comfortably. Sure, no one would be swimming or diving while carrying one, but if you happen to put the drive in your short pants and forget that it’s there, the JumpDrive Tough will give you a peace of mind as it would survive a washing machine trip.ĭespite of the ruggedness promise, the flash drive itself is still easy to carry. It is also weather (-25° C to 150° C) and water (up to 30m) resistant.įor those who like to store media files (like photos or videos) in a USB flash drive while on a trip would definitely appreciate the Lexar JumpDrive Tough. It can withstand up to 750 PSI of impact/pressure which, according to Wikipedia, is about the same as the water pressure from a coin-operated car wash spray nozzle (if you own a car, you know how high the pressure is). Lexar JumpDrive Tough, as the name suggests, promises a super rugged and tough USB flash drive that can withstand any punishments you can think of. Most USB drives would then go bonkers, leaving you frustrated for losing your important documents or assignments inside. Or unexpected storm might come and things can get quite wet. The problem with these is that a USB flash drive can get damaged if you drop it accidentally. They normally contain temporary files that you need to copy from one computer to another or important documents that are accessible to you when you need them the most. The tattoo today symbolizes inner strength, persistence, a deep drive, an unwillingness to surrender, and a determination to beat the odds and come out stronger on the other side. The phrase famously uttered by Caesar was given a new life and relevance in the 1984 Ghostbusters movie, in a line Bill Murray is said to have improvised after the Ghostbusters catch their first ghost – Slimer. These meanings are also partly connected with tribal lion designs. Handel used the phrase in his Opera Julius Caesar, and the translated version – “I came I saw I conquered” is a powerful lyric in Jay-Z’s Encore and repeated in Madonna’s Veni Vidi Vici. But it has also inspired art – is romanticised by writers such as Shakespeare. Veni, Vidi, Vici has maintained its place in cultural relevance with paraphrasing from military leaders throughout the years. ![]() The power of a tricolon as a punchline was perhaps best understood by the inimitable Dorothy Parker who was famously quoted as saying “I require three things in a man: he must be handsome, ruthless, and stupid.” Well known tricolons include the French national motto of Liberté, égalité, fraternité, in song lyrics like “Me, Myself and I”, “sex and drugs and rock‘n’roll” as well as slogans in advertising like Kellogg’s snap, crackle, pop! Even with character names in books and movies such as Ed, Edd, & Eddie, the chipmunks Alvin, Simon, Theodore, Milly Molly Mandy and Donald Duck’s nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie and not forgetting The Good, the Bad and The Ugly.Īccording to Mark Forsyth, author of The Elements of Eloquence, a tricolon is so useful because “two is only a pair, and four is all wrong” – groups of three naturally resonate with us, because they either form a pattern that we can follow, or, as Forsyth notes we can “set up a pattern and then break it”. Veni, Vidi, Vici remains one of the finest examples of a tricolon or hendiatris in history, or words in groups of threes are a powerful mnemonic tool for speeches and writing. There is nothing as satisfying to the ear as an alliterative tricolon, especially when it is delivered with such wit and well-deserved confidence! The brevity and stylish flair of the phrase impressed audiences then and still captures the imagination today. It is believed that Julius Caesar first declared “Veni, Vidi, Vici!” in a letter to the Roman Senate following his swift and complete victory in the Battle of Zela. It is thought he did this not only to improve his reputation and popularity with the Roman people, but also act as ‘despatches from the front’. Widely regarded as one of the best orators of Latin in the Roman world, Caesar delivered written texts that outlined his experiences on the frontlines back to the Roman Senate. Caesar was welcomed back to Rome in a ceremony of pomp and pageantry with a tablet inscribed with Veni Vidi Vici – noted by Roman historian Seutonius as being particularly poignant, expressing “what was done, so much as the dispatch with which it was done”.Ĭaesar is known to have coined several phrases that have remained relevant and revered – including Alea iacta est (“the die is cast” – or the dice have been rolled) and Ut est rerum omnium magister usus (“experience is the best teacher”). ![]() ![]() ![]() Please go to the game walkthrough and scroll to the bottom for our new forums. Other families will also pitch in voluntarily and help out! If you let them do it, the compound will harden and you will have to wait eons for another wall repair compound to show up! I have worked this out and for anyone else who has this trouble, first hint will be to conect the water (fix the hose). If you're looking for a simple Sims like experience, that doesn't require too much involvement, Virtual Families is a good option. Can anyone assist with repairing walls? I have the repair kit, however I dont have the hose repaired as yet, I don't know if this is a factor in repairing the walls. However, the values in the game are very conservative (mother always looks after the baby and so on), and there's not much you can do to make things more interesting! Overall, this is a very casual game, which will appeal to younger players who don't miss the personalization other games offer. Perhaps it’s worth a try, but don’t expect it to keep you occupied for a long time. It’s a game that leans more on the pay-to-play side of things and needs a lot of polish in some of its mechanics. The sound effects are minimal, but effective. Overall, we’d say your experience with Virtual Families 3 varies from player to player. The graphics in general won't win any awards, with jerky sprites and flat looking backgrounds. Anyway, I'm not worried about which MIDI packs I choose it's the ADpaks which concern me most right now. I wouldn't mind browsing some loops as a learning experience, though. As for the MIDI packs and loops and stuff, well, I almost never use other people's loops, because I like to play everything myself. So, even if a kit sounds awesome, but doesn't have much variety, I probably won't use it. I prefer to use one kit per song, rather than multiple kits (a standard kit for kick/snare/hat and a percussion kit for toms/bongos/effects). Because my songs tend to be long, I love having kits with lots of drum sounds (toms, bongos, etc.) which can add variety and texture. I don't like purely "electronic" music very much (techno, drum-and-bass, dubstep, etc.) so I do NOT want electronic-sounding kits I have enough of those with Battery 4 anyway. Some of the biggest influences would be Fela Kuti (afrobeat), Can (krautrock), Miles Davis (jazz), and Shriekback (post-punk). There's elements of jazz, reggae, and krautrock, but I also love listening to post-punk, so I'm always trying to inject a raw, rock-based feel into it as well. They'd just need to be remapped to trigger AD2. and really Sonar comes with a buttload of the simpelr beats anyway for rock and blues and crap like that. kind of a hack really but I fake it well) so the other MIDIpaks did not offer anything I could not play live on my padKontrol or program. I used to play drums at an intermediate level (but self taught. I just wanted the most interesting and complex fills and beats I'd never be able to play or program myself so those seemed like the best options. For the MIDIpaks I got the Metal one, the Jazz sticks one (IIRC) and the Modern Jazz one (IIRC). I REAAAAALY wanted the Jazz Brushes and Sticks combo (which are two separate ADpaks) but figured they would not provide me with enough usage for what I'm likely to make money on. Fairfax 1 (clean, well produced kit that is good for rock but as a general up front/full bodied/punchy kit) Metal (suuuuper tight and snappy kit with triggers and all the garnish you'd expect for modern and old school metal) Indie (more vintage, less tight, more "swoosh" and "bomp" type sound, supposed to be for "indie" rock but can easily be used for "oldies" rock, big band, classic country, whatever you'd use an older kit/analog studio production for). Because I do rock/metal but often dabble in more traditional styles I went with. but all answers would likely be highly subjective. If you elaborated more on that then your query would be easier to answer. It really depends on what type of music you intend to create with them/what kind of drum sounds you like. ![]() |
